Isaac Owusu Afriyie

Isaac is an entrepreneur, corporate strategist, financial and management consultant both in training and practice. He is a multi-skilled, multi-talented, free thinker, dynamic and astute corporate executive. These qualities make him a must-have business resource in today's knowledge based, complex and ever-changing business environment. He has combined these qualities together with his excellent people’s skills to deliver unrivalled results in the areas of financial advisory, corporate due diligence, debt and equity raise and management services among others.

He has spent the last 10 years of his career life in Investment, Retail and Commercial banking, Private Equity, Accounting, Audit and Assurance, Microfinance, among others. During this period, he has assisted close to 30 Companies in either

  • setting up their operational structures and systems,
  • instituting operational and financial controls,
  • improving their business processes,
  • restructuring their operations,
  • fine-tuning their performance reviews and measurement,
  • repositioning their business models to meet modern trends,
  • determining the right mix of capital (debt-equity) for operations,
  • advising on working capital and liquidity management,
  • drawing up strategies for revenue mobilisation (financial institutions specifically) etc.

Isaac is a chartered accountant (ACCA-UK) with considerable years of post-qualification experience. He is also a member of Chartered Institute of Professional Financial Managers (CIPFM), USA. He has sat for and passed the Level I of CFA examinations. He holds a first degree in BSc Administration (Accounting major) from the University of Ghana Business School.

Prior to the formation of OXYGEN Group, Isaac worked as Head of Finance of Bullion Investment Group. The Group comprise of Bullion Financial Advisors, Bullion Securities Limited, Auctus Venture Capital, Intrepid Venture Capital Financing Company, Bullion Realty and Bullion Plantation.

He is also a founding member and former Chief Finance and Operating Officer (CFOO) of Principal Capital, a company whose main operations include microfinance and investments. The Company recorded a remarkable 66% return on equity (ROE) and a clientele base of about 350 within its first year of operations. Before joining Principal Capital, Isaac was the Deputy Head of Financial Control and Strategic Planning, Zenith Bank (Ghana) Limited. Isaac worked with Zenith Bank for three (3) years and was a member of the Bank’s Performance Management Review, Mini Credit and IT strategy committees.

Isaac joined PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as a National service personnel in the assurance department in 2006. Due to his leadership skills and utmost commitment to excellence, he rose to the rank of Senior Associate II within four years of dedicated service. Isaac undertook various engagements including audit, due diligence and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) assignments mostly in the financial sector. As team manager, he assisted financial institutions in the country in converting their financial reporting system to the IFRS in compliance with Bank of Ghana’s guidelines. In 2010, his team was one of two engagement teams in Ghana rated “Excellent” by the PwC Global Quality Review.

Isaac has been a member of the Advisory Board of PENSA Business Chamber since March 2011. He is presently a coordinator of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) Alumni. In his days at the University, Isaac was the President of the Business School.
